London Magician:
“The best manipulator of playing cards I’ve ever seen” – Sir George Martin.
Compliments rarely come higher than the above. But neither is Sav, in his Deceptionist alter-ego, any ordinary magician. He combines breathtaking versatility in conjuring, illusion, card-sharp, and mindreading techniques with a degree of easy charm and personability that would put 007 himself to shame.
For the past 14 years Sav has wowed crowds in London’s smartest bars, salons and casinos, an effortlessly enigmatic presence who never fails to add real magic to an evening. Moving between tables and conversations, he will perform a series of ten-minute magic medleys, rarely leaving audiences anything less than awestruck. Where other entertainers may demand that a gathering cease conversation and pay attention, the Deceptionist weaves himself into the spirit of the event or venue, effortlessly becoming a captivating presence.
Few of London’s finer establishments have yet to witness Sav in action, and he has won praise for his residencies The Lonsdale, Match, The Player, Milk & Honey, The Kingly Club and The Light Bar as well guest spots at Chinawhite, GE Club, 50 St James and many more.
Yet Sav remains equally at ease among every teir in the social hierarchy, from royalty to celebrity to the man and woman in the street, club or bar. Denise Van Outen, Jay Kay, Michael Keaton, Anthony Kiedis, Tracey Emin, Ray Winstone and many others have raved over his performances. But the Deceptionist never discriminates: he knows that everyone wants to be seduced into the pleasures of astonishment.
Sav also features regularly in the media, with profiles and interviews in the London Evening Standard, the London Paper, Radio 1 - where he hosted a week of magic slots on the Chris Moyles show – and many more. “In a world of narcissistic charlatans and mediocre amateurs, Sav is the real deal,” wrote Loaded magazine.
His career in magic begin at the age of eight, after an induction into the world of illusionism by a Butlins redcoat. Sav, who hails grew up in the West Midlands, practised intently in his bedroom throughout his school years. “I was an obsessive kid," he recalls.
He made his professional debut magic while studying at De Montfort University. After his grant money ran out, Sav busked on the street and ingeniously solved his liquidity problem in an afternoon. His flair and natural ability won him funding from the Prince’s Trust to develop his business, and later in his twenties he made a pilgrimage to the US to meet the greats of modern magic. Returning home, he moved to London and launch a career that his since gone from strength to strength.
His versatility mean that today Sav’s talents are in demand by blue-chip brands (including the BBC, Deutsche Bank, Citigroup, Virgin, Blackberry and Evian) and leading social events and venues (Cartier Polo, Ascot, Longleat, The Banqueting Suite and more). His work has also proved to be a hit internationally, and Sav has performed as far afield as Las Vegas, Monaco, Geneva, LA, Dubai, Finland and beyond.
“I get booked because people know I will do the best job for their clients and because people want to experience what I do,” he says. Clients who book Sav for weddings, parties and cocktail soirees echo the sentiment. A popular booking remains his parlour shows, where private audiences enjoy a stylish 45-minute medley of magic. Sav is also regularly booked to work with brands on designing and performing bespoke experiential magic to launch new products, a strand of work that has proved as successful with brand managers as it has with audiences.
All in all, the Deceptionist is a unique proposition – a performer with the charisma of a celebrity conjuror and the guile of a street magician, instinctively able to tailor a breathtaking range of talents to many different audiences.
Sav delivers brilliant entertainment and lasting talkability to any audience, plus value for money and unrivalled service for any client.Or as Prince William put it: “Extraordinary. Just extraordinary.”
